PTO Shaft Accessories

Agricultural Power Take-Off (PTO) shafts are a vital component in farm machinery, used to transmit power from a tractor to various implements like mowers, tillers, balers, and more. To enhance their functionality and ensure safety, several accessories are commonly used with PTO shafts. Here are some key agricultural PTO shaft accessories:

1. Safety Shields: To prevent accidents and injuries caused by contact with the rotating shaft. These are typically plastic or metal guards that enclose the PTO shaft. They are designed to rotate independently of the shaft, providing a protective covering.

2. Overrunning Clutch: To prevent implements from driving the tractor via the PTO shaft. This clutch allows the shaft to rotate freely in one direction but locks if rotation is attempted in the opposite direction, which is crucial for implements with high inertia.

3. Shear Bolts and Safety Pins: To act as a mechanical fuse, protecting the tractor and implement from damage due to overload. These components are designed to break under excessive load, disconnecting the drive to the implement.

4. PTO Adapters and Extenders: To alter the length or change the spline size of the PTO shaft to fit different implements. Useful when the PTO shaft of the tractor doesn’t match the input of the implement.

5. Universal Joints: To allow for angular flexibility in the PTO shaft. These joints enable the PTO shaft to bend or flex while transmitting power, accommodating varying angles between the tractor and the implement.

6. PTO Shaft Yokes: To connect the PTO shaft to the tractor and the implement. Yokes are the end fittings of a PTO shaft that attach to the PTO spline of the tractor and the input spline of the implement.
