Common Abnormalities and Solutions for Worm Gearbox
| Abnormalities | Solutions |
|---|---|
| Noise | Check if the installation is correct and if the oil is sufficient. If the problem is not resolved, it may be due to worn or broken gears and bearings. |
| Vibration | Check if the installation is correct and if the bearings are damaged. If the bearings are damaged, they need to be replaced. |
| The input shaft cannot be rotated | Check if the lubrication is sufficient. If not, add lubricant. If the lubrication is sufficient and the problem persists, the bearings may be damaged and need to be replaced. |
| Oil leakage | Check if the seals are damaged or if the installation is incorrect. Replace the seals and reinstall if necessary. |
| Overheating | Check if the lubrication is sufficient and if the ventilation is good. If the lubrication is sufficient and the ventilation is good, the bearings may be damaged and need to be replaced. |
| Abnormal oil level | Check if the oil is contaminated or if the oil seal is damaged. If the oil is contaminated, it needs to be replaced. If the oil seal is damaged, it needs to be replaced. |
| Abnormal input torque | Check if the installation is correct and if the input shaft is bent or damaged. If the input shaft is bent or damaged, it needs to be replaced. |
| Abnormal output torque | Check if the installation is correct and if the output shaft is bent or damaged. If the output shaft is bent or damaged, it needs to be replaced. |
| Abnormal output speed | Check if the installation is correct and if the gears are worn or damaged. If the gears are worn or damaged, they need to be replaced. |
| Abnormal noise during deceleration | Check if there is excessive wear on the gears. If the gears are excessively worn, they need to be replaced. |

Installation of the Worm Gearbox
The installation of the worm gearbox is as follows:
- When the input shaft is directly connected to the motor, a flexible coupling is preferred. For the connection between the output shaft and the application machine, a gear coupling is preferred.
- Install on a well-ventilated and stable base; consider the accessibility of oil addition/drainage.
- The input shaft and motor shaft of the reducer should be aligned within the tolerance range.
- After installation, manually rotate the input shaft to check if there is any locking.
- Before normal operation, an idle running test should be conducted. Any abnormalities should be corrected before normal operation.
Worm Gearbox Lubrication and Maintenance
The lubrication and maintenance of the worm gearbox are as follows:
- To extend the service life of the gearbox, the first oil change should be performed after 500 hours of operation and subsequent oil changes should be performed every 2500 hours. Nevertheless, it is recommended to check the oil level and condition periodically before the next oil change.
- Only compatible specification oil should be added. Do not mix oils of different specifications in the same unit.
- Before adding new oil, flush and drain the gearbox first.
- If the temperature rises above 80 degrees Celsius or abnormal noise occurs, immediately shut down the gearbox for inspection. Only restart it after the problem has been identified and resolved.
