SD Double Universal Joint
The SD (Sliding) Double Universal Joint is a type of universal joint commonly used in the power take-off (PTO) shafts of tractors and other agricultural machinery. It is designed to transmit rotational power between two shafts that are misaligned or at an angle to each other.
The PTO shaft of a tractor transfers power from the tractor’s engine to various implements, such as rotary tillers, balers, or mowers. The SD Double Universal Joint is employed in the PTO shaft assembly to accommodate misalignment and angular differences between the tractor’s PTO output shaft and the implement’s input shaft.
The SD Double Universal Joint consists of two universal joints connected together by a sliding sleeve. Each universal joint consists of a cross-shaped center piece with four trunnion bearings, which are connected to four yokes. The yokes are attached to the PTO shaft and the implement shaft.
