TFG080 Series High Precision Planetary Gearbox Helical Gear Reducer is a precision mechanical component designed to transmit torque and reduce speed between the input and output shafts. It is also known as servo motor planetary gearbox and low backlash planetary gearbox. Basic Construction of High Precision Planetary Gearbox

• Sun Gear

  The sun gear is located at the center of the planetary gearbox and is typically connected to the input shaft or fixed to the housing as a stationary component.

• Planet Gears

  The planet gears rotate around the sun gear and are supported and held in relative position to each other by the planet carrier. Each planet gear meshes with both the sun gear and the internal gear, and when power is input, they collectively bear and distribute the load.

• Planet Carrier

  The planet carrier is a structure with multiple planet gear shaft holes that supports the planet gears and allows them to rotate relative to the sun gear. The planet carrier can serve as an output element or be connected to another shaft to transmit or receive torque.

• Ring Gear/Annulus

  The internal gear is a large-diameter ring gear fixed inside the gearbox housing, with teeth on both its inner and outer surfaces that mesh with the planet gears. In some applications, the internal gear can also serve as an input or output end.

• Bearings and Shaft System

  The bearings in the high-precision planetary gearbox support the input shaft, output shaft, and planet carrier, ensuring stable rotation and smooth operation of each component.

• Housing and Seals

  The housing is the external framework of the entire gearbox, protecting the internal components from external environmental influences and providing installation interfaces. Seals ensure that the internal lubricant does not leak, while preventing dust and water from entering the gearbox.

Working Principle of High Precision Planetary Gearbox

• Torque Transmission

  When power is input to the sun gear, the planet gears rotate around the sun gear. As the planet gears mesh with both the sun gear and the internal gear, they rotate around their own axes while revolving around the center of the sun gear with the planet carrier. In this way, the torque input to the sun gear is amplified by the planet gears and evenly distributed to the output end planet carrier.

• Speed Conversion and Torque Amplification

  By adjusting the gear ratio of different components, speed conversion and torque amplification between input and output can be achieved. Generally, increasing the number of planet gears or gear ratios will result in a more significant increase in torque but also a decrease in output speed.

• Low Backlash Design

  In high-precision applications, to ensure accurate position control and minimal mechanical clearance, high-precision planetary gearboxes use preload technology to reduce or eliminate the gap between gears, known as "zero/low backlash" design.

• Load Distribution and Dynamic Response

  One of the significant advantages of the planetary gear mechanism is that it can evenly distribute the load among multiple planet gears, thereby improving the bearing capacity and stability of the entire system and optimizing dynamic response performance.
